Prone to illustrate every minute detail when making a drawing, something made me want to go back to the Square of our town, remove everything that draws my attention and pencil, and make outlines only of what strikes me as a balance of symmetry and history.
The result of this exercise is a series of simple line drawings I nonsensically titled "6 Corners of the Square". Six separate views of downtown Marietta architecture. That's all. Terrain familiar to so many of us that we wander among these buildings as if they were the walls of a comfortable "family room". Later I was told this is considered "minimalist art". So there you have it. A break from my tedious detail, but hopefully art which captures the vibrant spirit of "our Square". Marietta, do you recognize any of these in my gallery? Come on in and "set a spell."
